Datachoir presents - Marcus Fischer
While out in Portland, Oregon last fall, I had the pleasure of finally meeting Marcus Fischer in person. In the flesh. In real life. We share many friends and many of the same loves of music and sound and inevitably the machinery for such music and sound. Fun fact: Marcus went to high school with Summer. Marcus's body of work capture both the visual and aural senses on a gentle terrain which can often hold the ears of its listeners quietly still. He is currently attending the Robert Rauschenberg Residency creating such important pieces like (Words of Concern) which serves as a kind of assertion of anxious relief. I highly recommend viewing this beautiful work: https://vimeo.com/200376953 You can find his recordings and work on: http://www.12k.com/artist/marcus-fischer/ https://marcus-fischer.bandcamp.com/music http://mapmap.ch/ https://www.instagram.com/marcusfischer/ In this video Marcus is using: Squier Jazzmaster A pinecone Ebow Montreal Assembly Count to Five Electo Harmonix Freeze Elektron Octatrack Teenage Engineering OP-1 Eurorack Modular: Circuit Abbey "Gonzinta" Mutable Instruments "Clouds" Intellijel "rainmaker" ALM/Busy Circuits "S.B.G." Datachoir presents - Elliott Douglas
Summer and I have been big fans of the homegrown fun on the Instagram posts of @elliott_mags feed. Elliot Douglas has a knack for writing the catchiest riffs and lyrics. Just watch this music video featuring himself and his wife Julia and see for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJdNcvARg5c Both he and Julia took a long drive from Buffalo, NY down to Brooklyn so that we could share a cheeseboard of fruit and crackers while nerding out over art and music and of course gear. Data Choir ii: Jeremiah Green
I can not think of a more lovely way to ring in the new year than with friends, music, and an open fire. Our dear friend Jeremiah, hosted us in his home studio over the 2016 New Year holiday. We had the pleasure of playing with his amazing collection of gear and instruments while sharing some of our own favorites with him. In this video, Jeremiah is playing an electric kalimba (aka a thumb piano) through an Old Blood Noise Endeavors Dark Star, in various modes and an Empress SuperDelay in tape echo mode. At the very end around 9:30, you also hear the Montreal Assembly Count to 5 engaged in mode 2. All of this is going into a vintage silver face Fender Twin Reverb. Jeremiah Green plays drums for Modest Mouse and records sound designs with Darren Weiner under the moniker, World Gang. He has also played with many other bands such as: Red Stars Theory, Satisfact, Peeved, Vells, and Psychic Emperor.
